SOFT PLAY ZONE
The Soft Play Zone — Where Every Inch Was Designed for a Child
Ask any parent what they really want from an indoor play area and they’ll give you the same answer: I want my child to be safe, and I want to actually see them having fun. Not performing fun for my camera — actually running, climbing, laughing, the kind of absorbed joy that means you’re doing something right.
Our soft play zone at Topsy Turvy was designed to produce exactly that. Every structure, every surface, every piece of equipment was chosen with one question in mind: does this make a child want to come back?

What's Inside the Soft Play Zone
Multi-Level Climbing Structure
The centrepiece of our play zone is a multi-level padded climbing frame that gives children a sense of genuine adventure without genuine risk. Kids scramble up ramps, squeeze through tunnels at different heights and emerge onto platforms where they can survey the whole zone before picking their next challenge. The structure is sized to be achievable for a two-year-old and still interesting for a ten-year-old.
Slides
Two dedicated slides u2014 one for younger children, one for older u2014 send kids looping back to the bottom and back to the top again. This is the part of the zone that creates the longest queues among friends and the most laughter from watching parents.
Ball Pit
There's a reason ball pits appear in every well-designed play centre: they're pure sensory delight. Ours is deep enough to dive into, cleaned regularly and stocked to the brim. Children under three in particular tend to spend a disproportionate amount of their session here.
Squeeze Tunnels
Low, padded tunnels that children can crawl through at odd angles. They seem simple, but developmentally they're doing a lot u2014 building spatial awareness, proprioception and the kind of problem-solving that comes from figuring out how your body fits through a small space.
Foam Obstacles
Soft blocks, ramps and stepping elements scattered throughout the play zone give children the freedom to create their own routes and challenges. Two children playing in the same space will invent entirely different games, and that's exactly the point.
Safety is Structural, Not Just Supervisory
We hear occasionally from parents who've visited other play venues and found the safety reassurances to be surface-level u2014 a sign on the wall and a distracted staff member in the corner. Ours is different because it's built into the design rather than bolted on as an afterthought.nAll surfaces that a child can fall onto are padded to impact-absorption standards. Platform edges have guard rails designed for the age range using each level. Entry to the zone is sock-only u2014 grip socks are mandatory, and available for purchase if you forget yours u2014 because they dramatically reduce slipping on the equipment.nStaff conduct walkthroughs every fifteen minutes and are trained in basic first aid. The zone's layout ensures clear sightlines from most seating positions in the adjacent cafu00e9 area, so parents can keep an eye without being physically in the space.n
Age Guidance
- Ages 1u20133: Primarily enjoy the ball pit, foam play elements and the lower-level tunnel sections. Always supervised directly by a parent or guardian.
- Ages 3u20136: The full zone is available and this age group tends to get the most out of it. Staff are on hand but children can navigate independently
- Ages 6u201310: Comfortable with all structures. Older children in this bracket often organise their own games using the obstacles and climbing frame.
Session Information
Sessions run in one-hour slots and can be extended subject to availability. We recommend booking ahead on weekends and during school holidays u2014 walk-ins are welcome on weekday mornings when the zone is quieter and staff attention per child is naturally higher.nSocks are mandatory for all children in the play zone. We sell grip socks at the reception if you need them. Water bottles are permitted inside the zone; food is not, to keep the equipment clean.n
